Division 2  Boys Teams in poll

1. Valley View, Inland Valley League #1
Head Coach: John Kush
Winner of the Rancho Cucamonga Tournament beating Poly in a PK shootout and beating Claremont in the semi-finals 2-0 back in December. Rolling along in Inland Valley Play undefeated. Have league title locked with one week of play to go.  This weeks competition is stiff with number leauge #2 La Sierra.
Key players: A. Turkson, M. Hernandez, I. Flores, J. Goicochea.

2. Claremont, Sierra League #1
Head Coach: Fred Bruce-Oliver
2011 Division 2 CIF Champions, This season took 3rd place in the Rancho Cucamonga Tournament losing a game in the tournament to current Div 2 #1 rated Valley View 2-0. Runner up in the Upland Tournament, losing to Div 3 #1 rated Fontana 2-1. Have talent across the field. A smaller team physically than coach FBO has had in many years but speed to burn. Claremont has clinched a tie for the league championship, a win in either two games remaining gives them the league title outright.
Key Players: Midfielder S. Hewitt, Forward D Kim, Forward D Kantor, Defender S Barba, & Forward T Ford.

3. Poly (Riverside Poly), Big 8 League #1
Head Coach: Alex Figueroa
Runner up of the Rancho Cucamonga Tournament losing to Valley View in a PK Shootout. Riverside Poly has a one game lead for the division championship with two matches to go. Should win out.

4. Santa Ana, Golden West League #1
Head Coach: Joe Penaflor
Preseason:  (11/22 Cap Valley 3-2 Loss(Don't know if this was a scrimmage match- not being reported), 11/28 San Clemente 2-2 T, 12-2 Los Amigos 2-1 T,  Edison HS 1-0 loss.  Lost their first league match on Friday 2-4 to Ocean View a team they beat earlier in the season 7-0 at home. This puts some doubt in my mind that the team chemistry is good. We will see how they finish out the season.
Key Players:
Forward Ivan Orozco, Ivan Canales, & Jeanmarco Varges.

6. Valencia (Placentia), Empire League #2
Head Coach: Barry Gardner
Turn around season after losing over 10 matches last year. This year Forward Fernando Perez is having a stellar year having scored 23 goals through 18 matches. Lost first league match on 1-27 to Kennedy HS, that could and should cost them the league championship. One game back with two matches to play before playoffs. We will see how bad they want the league championship?
Key Players: Forward Fernando Perez

7.  MLK (Martin Luther King), Big 8 League #2
Trailing Poly by one game with two matches left in league. Only two league losses were to Poly.

A good team, not quite sure they belong here just yet. They have three season losses to #2 Claremont. Overall they are 11-7-2.

8.  La Sierra, Inland Valley #2
Head Coach: David Eckenrod
A high scoring team that looks like is putting together the entire package at the right time. They have put together a five game winning streak and get to end the season against Valley View. A win could put them in the right frame of mind for the playoffs.

8. Indio, Desert Valley League #1
Key Players:
Had a four game winning streak snapped on Friday in a 0-1 loss to La Quinta HS. This was their 3rd league loss.

Other Teams for Consideration:

Century League:  Foothill & El Mo. Teams are not reporting scores so are a little under the radar.

Sea View League:  Mission Viejo. Teams are not reporting scores so another league slipping in under the radar

SouthWestern League:  Great Oaks. Well someone updated the scores over the weekend and after the polling I am sure because with Great Oaks 9-2-2 and leading their division they should have been considered for a top 10 spot.
